The Story of Home Run Inn
In 1923, Mary and Vincent Grittani owned a small tavern. It was located on 31st Street in Chicago, Illinois. Their daughter Loretta and her husband Nick Perrino also helped out.
One day, a home run from a nearby baseball game flew right through the tavern's window! Because of this fun event, they decided to rename their place Home Run Inn.
The Famous Pizza Recipe
In the 1940s, Mary Grittani created a special pizza recipe. This exact recipe is still used today! It's what makes Home Run Inn pizza so unique and loved.
From Restaurant to Frozen Pizza
Home Run Inn started selling frozen pizzas in the 1950s. At first, you could only find them in the Chicago area. As their popularity grew, they built more factories.
In 1986, a frozen pizza factory was built in Chicago. Another one was built in Woodridge, Illinois, in 1996. Now, Home Run Inn delivers its Chicago-style frozen pizzas to over 30 states!
Where to Find Home Run Inn
Today, Home Run Inn has nine restaurant locations. Four of these are in Chicago itself. The other five are in the suburbs around Chicago.
In October 2019, the company announced something exciting. They opened a brand new restaurant. It is right next door to their very first location on 31st Street in Chicago.
