The Story of Hoot Owl
Hoot Owl became an official town in 1977. A family of three decided to make it a town. They wanted to protect their land from hunters and other nearby towns.
In 1992, the town tried to stop being a town. This happened after a bank took over their property. The two people living there, William R. Bradley Jr. (the mayor) and his son Robert Bradley (the city clerk), voted to end the town.
However, the bank did not agree. They went to court and stopped the town from dissolving in 1993. The town was then sold in 1994. A doctor from Tulsa bought it. He said he wanted to use Hoot Owl as a weekend home.
