Hopewell is a small, unincorporated community located in Pratt County, Kansas, United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a shared identity but without its own local government. It's found in the beautiful Rattlesnake Creek valley. You can find Hopewell about 18 miles northwest of the city of Pratt. It sits near the intersection of NW 140th Ave and NW 110th St.

Hopewell's History
Hopewell has an interesting history tied to its post office. A post office is where mail is sent and received.
Early Post Office Days
The first post office in Hopewell opened its doors in 1904. However, it only stayed open for a few years, closing in 1908. For a while after that, mail for Hopewell residents was sent through nearby Macksville.
The Fravel Post Office
In 1916, a new post office opened in Hopewell. It was first called "Fravel." This name lasted for five years.
Renamed Hopewell Post Office
In 1921, the Fravel post office was officially renamed Hopewell. It continued to serve the community for many years. The Hopewell post office finally closed for good in 1973. Since then, mail for Hopewell has been routed through Macksville once again.
Location and Landscape
Hopewell is situated at an elevation of 2044 feet (which is about 624 meters) above sea level. This means it's quite a bit higher than places closer to the coast! The community is nestled in the valley of Rattlesnake Creek, which is a natural feature of the area.

Students living in Hopewell attend public schools through the Macksville USD 351 school district. This district serves several communities, including Hopewell, providing education for local children.
