How Horace Got Its Start
The community was first called Wyncoop. It was officially mapped out, or platted, in the year 1881. A person named James Wyncoop was responsible for this.
The Post Office Days
In the same year, 1881, a post office was opened in Horace. This was a very important service for the people living there. It allowed them to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1929.
