Horatio Walpole was the oldest son of Horatio Walpole, 2nd Earl of Orford, the 2nd Earl of Orford. His mother was Sophia Churchill. His family had strong ties to important figures in British history. His grandmother was the granddaughter of Robert Walpole, Sir Robert Walpole. Sir Robert Walpole was a very famous Prime Minister of Great Britain. Horatio's grandfather, the 1st Baron Walpole of Wolterton, was Sir Robert's brother. This means Horatio came from a family deeply involved in politics.

Becoming a Member of Parliament

His Family Life
In 1812, Lord Orford married Mary Wilhelmina Augustine. She was the daughter of William Augustus Fawkener. They had several children together. These included Lady Dorothy Nevill, Lady Rachel Walpole, and the Honourable Frederick Walpole. Lady Rachel Walpole later married John Savile, 4th Earl of Mexborough. Lord Orford passed away in December 1858 when he was 75 years old. His oldest son, Horatio, became the next Earl of Orford. Lady Orford passed away a couple of years later, in February 1860.
