About the Horim Museum
The Horim Museum was started by a person named Yun Jang-seob. He loved old Korean art and wanted to share it with everyone. First, he created a group called the Sungbo Cultural Foundation in July 1981. This group helped buy many old and valuable pieces of art.
Then, in October 1982, the Horim Museum officially opened. It was first located in a part of Seoul called Daechi-dong. The museum started small, using just one floor of a building.
A New Home for Art
As the museum grew, it needed more space. So, in May 1999, the Horim Museum moved to a new, bigger location in Sillim-dong. This new building is much larger, covering about 4,600 square meters.
The new museum has many different areas for visitors to explore. There are four main galleries, each showing a different type of art. There's also a special gallery for unique exhibits. You can even find a souvenir shop to remember your visit!
What You Can See There
The Horim Museum is home to a huge collection of Korean art. It has more than 10,000 pieces! Imagine all the history and beauty you can see.
