The Hornbach Chain (also called Hornbachkette in German) is a group of mountains. It stretches for about 15 kilometers (about 9 miles) in length. These mountains are part of the larger Allgäu Alps mountain range. You can find them in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The Hornbach Chain starts at a peak called the Öfnerspitze. From there, it curves from the north towards the east. This chain is a special part of the main ridge of the Allgäu Alps.

The Hornbach Chain is located in the beautiful Tyrol region of Austria. It is a key part of the Allgäu Alps. These Alps are famous for their stunning views and many hiking trails.

Important Mountains in the Chain

One important branch of the Hornbach Chain goes south. Here you will find the Großer Krottenkopf mountain. This mountain is very tall, reaching 2,656 meters (8,714 feet) high. It is actually the highest mountain in the entire Allgäu Alps!

On the main ridge of the Hornbach Chain, there are other very high peaks. These include the Marchspitze, which is 2,609 meters (8,560 feet) tall. The Bretterspitze is also very high at 2,608 meters (8,556 feet). Another impressive peak is the Urbeleskarspitze, standing at 2,632 meters (8,635 feet). All these mountains are among the ten tallest and most important peaks in the Allgäu Alps.
