Hornet is a small, unincorporated community located in the western part of Newton County, Missouri, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
Hornet is situated about six miles southwest of a larger city called Joplin. It's also very close to Route 43, a main road. This community is considered part of the bigger Joplin Metropolitan Area.
