Houman Seyyedi (Persian: هومن سيدی, born November 29, 1980) is a talented Iranian actor, director, screenwriter, and editor. He has won many important awards for his work. These include six Crystal Simorghs, which are like the top film awards in Iran. He is the only director to win the Special Jury Prize three times! He also won two Hafez Awards and several awards from Iran's Film Critics and Writers Association.
His film World War III (2022) won a major award at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. This shows how well-known his work is around the world. Houman Seyyedi has also helped many new actors start their careers in movies. He trained many of them at his own 8mm Film School.

Early life
Houman Seyyedi was born on November 29, 1980, in Rasht, Iran. He is the second of four children in his family. He has a sister named Hilda and two brothers, Hamoon and Hamed. His father worked at a bank, and his mother worked for the Iranian Navy. Houman Seyyedi has a daughter named Nil.
After finishing high school, he studied graphic design. He started his journey in filmmaking by taking classes at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in Rasht. There, he made several short films. Later, he moved to Tehran and took acting classes with the famous actor Parviz Parastui.
Career
Acting
In the mid-2000s, Houman Seyyedi began his acting career. He appeared in films like One Piece of Bread and Fireworks Wednesday. He became well-known for his main role in the film Barefoot in Heaven. This role helped him and the film's director become famous. He was even nominated for a Best Actor award for his performance.
Houman Seyyedi also acted in plays and on television. He was in TV series such as Endless Path and Until Thurya. His role in the series Asheghaneh made him very popular. It is considered his most successful acting project so far. He also won an award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in I Am Diego Maradona.
Directing
After making several award-winning short films, Houman Seyyedi directed his first full-length movie, Africa, in 2010. This film won Best Film at the Fajr International Film Festival. Houman Seyyedi also wrote and edited Africa. Critics saw his directing style as unique and interesting.
He has helped many new actors get their start in Iranian cinema through his films. Some of his other movies as a director include Thirteen, Confessions of My Dangerous Mind, Rage and Roar, Small Rusty Brains, and World War III. His film Small Rusty Brains was one of the most popular movies in Iran when it came out in 2018.
In 2020, he directed his first TV series for home viewing, called The Frog. This series was very popular and became the highest-rated Iranian series on IMDb.
Teaching
Besides acting and directing, Houman Seyyedi also teaches acting. He has his own academy where he helps young people learn to become actors.
Awards and recognition
Houman Seyyedi has received an honorary doctorate for his achievements in film both in Iran and internationally. His films have won many awards at different festivals around the world. These awards include Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Film, and Special Jury Prizes. His film World War III won the Best Film award in the Horizons section at the 79th Venice Film Festival.
