The House of Candia was a powerful noble family that lived a long time ago, from the 1300s to the 1500s. They were from a region called Savoy, which is now part of France and Italy. This family owned a special castle called "Château de Candie" in a place called Chambéry-Le-Vieux.

One important person from the Candia family was François de Candie. In 1377, he was known as the Viscount of Geneva. A Viscount was like a high-ranking official or a local ruler who helped manage an area. François de Candie was also in charge of the castle on an island in the Rhône River.
