The Houston Aeros were an exciting professional ice hockey team. They played for many years in the American Hockey League (AHL). The AHL is a league where players often develop their skills. They hope to play in the top league, the National Hockey League (NHL). The Aeros were a farm team for the Minnesota Wild for a long time. This means they helped train players for the Wild.

Their Home in Houston

The team played all their home games in Houston, Texas. Their arena was the Toyota Center. This is a big sports arena in downtown Houston. Many fans came to watch the Aeros play exciting hockey games there. The team played in Houston from 1994 until 2013.

A Team on the Move

After playing in Houston for almost 20 years, the team moved. On April 19, 2013, it was announced they would leave Texas. The team moved to Des Moines, Iowa. They started playing there in the 2013–14 AHL season. In Iowa, the team got a new name. They became known as the Iowa Wild.
