Many people describe Jones's singing as emotional and strong. He is often called one of the best singers in the metalcore genre.

Music Career

Early Bands

Howard Jones began his music journey in 1996 with a band called Driven. A few years later, from 1997 to 2004, he was the lead singer for the band Blood Has Been Shed. These early bands helped him develop his unique singing style.

Killswitch Engage

In 2002, Jones joined the popular band Killswitch Engage after their first singer, Jesse Leach, left. This was a big step in his career. With Jones as the singer, Killswitch Engage became very successful.

The band released two albums that earned gold certifications, which means they sold over 500,000 copies each. These albums were The End of Heartache and As Daylight Dies.

After almost ten years with the band, Jones left in 2012. He and the band members remained good friends. He later worked with them again on the song "The Signal Fire" from their album Atonement. He has even joined them on stage during tours to sing with the band's current singer, Jesse Leach.

Light the Torch and Other Projects

After leaving Killswitch Engage, Jones formed a new band called Devil You Know. The band later changed its name to Light the Torch. They continue to make music and tour.

In 2021, Jones teamed up with guitarist and YouTube star Jared Dines to create a new music project called SION.

More recently, Jones announced another new band called Burn Eternal. He created this band with his friend and former Killswitch Engage bandmate, Adam Dutkiewicz. They released their first album in 2024.

Outside of music, Jones loves to go fishing. He owns property near the Red River of the North in Canada where he can enjoy his hobby. He is also a regular guest on a popular podcast hosted by his friend, Jamey Jasta.

In 2012, Jones left Killswitch Engage to focus on his health. The busy touring schedule was making it hard for him to manage his type 2 diabetes. At one point, his health condition became very serious and he had to be hospitalized.

Jones has also spoken about his struggles with anxiety and depression. He said that becoming famous was difficult for him. In 2009, he went through a very hard time but got help from people who were concerned about him. To help others, he worked with his former band Killswitch Engage on the song "The Signal Fire" to raise awareness about mental health.
