Howard Lloyd Weitzman (born September 21, 1939 – died April 7, 2021) was a famous American entertainment lawyer. He helped people in the entertainment world with their legal problems. This included things like protecting their creative works or dealing with family and money matters.

He was well-known for representing the family of Michael Jackson in a big case about taxes. Some of his other famous clients included Justin Bieber and John DeLorean. Weitzman was also a founder of a special law firm called Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump LLP (KWIKA) in Santa Monica, California.

Education and Early Career

Howard Weitzman studied at the University of Southern California. He earned his first degree there in 1962. Later, he got his law degree (called a J.D.) from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1965. He became a licensed lawyer in California in 1966.

After finishing his studies, Weitzman taught law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law for 12 years. He taught students how to argue cases in court.

From 1995 to 1998, he worked as an important executive at Universal Studios. In this role, he helped organize how the company worked.

Legal Work and Achievements

Howard Weitzman was known for being a very skilled lawyer. He was even certified as a specialist in criminal law for a time. In 1986, he became a managing partner at a law firm called Wyman Bautzer. Then, in 1991, he joined another firm, Katten Muchin Zavis & Weitzman.

Weitzman also used his legal knowledge to help with movies. He appeared as a legal advisor in films like Murder One (1995) and Thank You for Smoking (2005).

He was recognized for his excellent work. Weitzman won the Jerry Giesler Memorial Award twice. This award is given to outstanding trial lawyers in Los Angeles County.

Howard Weitzman passed away in Los Angeles from cancer on April 7, 2021. He was 81 years old.
