Huerfano (pronounced `Hanáádlį́` in Navajo) is a small community in San Juan County, New Mexico, United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP) because it's a special area defined for gathering population information. In 2000, about 104 people lived there. Huerfano gets its name from El Huerfano Mountain, which is just a mile northeast of the community.
