Huff's Store is a cool old general store located in Burwood, Tennessee. A general store is a place where people could buy almost anything they needed, from food to clothes! This special building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. This means it's an important historical place in the United States.
The store was built way back in 1911. It's a one-story building with a special type of roof called a hipped roof, which slopes down on all four sides.

A Store Through Time
Huff's Store is one of the very few general stores still open in Middle Tennessee. It has a long history of being a family business.
The Huff Family's Legacy
The Huff family took over the store in 1937. Kenneth E. Huff, who was one of eight children in the family, owned and ran the store for many years. He kept it going until he passed away in 2014.
Today, his son, Charlie Huff, continues to run the store. Kenneth's brother, Glenn Huff, also had a store called Huff's Grocery in Brentwood.
Why Huff's Store is Special
In 1988, experts looked at many historic buildings in Williamson County. They said Huff's Store was one of the "two best remaining store buildings from the early 1900s" outside of Franklin. The other was the Thompson Store in Duplex.
They also noted that Huff's Store looked "remarkably unaltered." This means it still looks almost exactly the same as it did when it was first built!
A Star on Screen
Because of its classic look, Huff's Store has even been used in television commercials. It's a great place to film scenes that need an old-fashioned feel.
How It All Started
The store was first built in 1911 by two brothers, Millard and Vance Akin. They ran a general store there until 1937. The Akin brothers sold all sorts of things, and they even used a small balcony area inside the store to sell shoes.
In 1937, R.G. Huff bought the store. He ran it until the 1960s. After that, his son, Ken Huff, took over the business.
