Early Life and Education
Hugh Beeston was the second son of Sir George Beeston. His father, Sir George, named two of his older sons Hugh, which can be a bit confusing! The Hugh Beeston we are talking about earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Oxford University in 1563. After that, in 1565, he joined Lincoln's Inn, which was a place where people studied to become lawyers.
Starting His Political Career
Hugh Beeston began his career in public service. In 1585 and 1589, he worked as a deputy comptroller for areas like Cheshire and Flintshire. This role meant he helped manage government finances and records in those regions.
He was also elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for several places. An MP is someone chosen by people to represent them in the House of Commons. In 1589, he became the MP for Bodmin. Around 1592, he also became a J.P. for Cheshire. A Justice of the Peace helps keep law and order in their local area. In 1593, he was elected MP for West Looe.
Important Roles and Knighthood
Sir Hugh Beeston received an estate called Plas Cadwgan in Denbighshire. This became his main home. By April 1595, he had an important job as the receiver general of the revenue in the Exchequer for Cheshire and North Wales. This meant he was in charge of collecting money for the government in those areas.
In 1596, he became a Justice of the Peace for Denbighshire. He continued his political journey, being elected MP for Knaresborough in 1597. In 1601, he became the MP for Winchelsea.
A big moment for him was in 1603 when he was knighted, which means he was given the title "Sir." After this, in 1604, he was elected MP for New Shoreham. When his brother passed away in 1608, Hugh Beeston inherited the family estates in Beeston. His last known election as an MP was in 1614, when he represented Liverpool.

Sir Hugh Beeston lived to be about 78 years old. He was married to Margaret Worth. Margaret was the daughter of Roger Downes and had been married before to Philip Worth. Hugh and Margaret had two sons and one daughter together.
