Hugo Blanco (born September 25, 1940 – died June 14, 2015) was a super talented musician from Venezuela. He was famous for writing many popular songs. His most well-known song is "Moliendo Café". He also wrote "El Burrito Sabanero", which is a favorite Christmas song. Hugo Blanco wrote "Moliendo Café" in 1958 when he was just 18 years old. This song became one of the most famous Venezuelan songs around the world.

About Hugo Blanco
Hugo Blanco was born in Caracas, Venezuela. When he was 15, he bought his first musical instrument. It was called a cuatro, which is a type of small guitar. He learned to play it by listening to the radio.
Hugo Blanco created a new style of Venezuelan music. It mixed Cuban music with a traditional Venezuelan style called joropo. He named this new style "the orquídea" (the orchid). This name honored the national flower of Venezuela.

In the 1960s, Hugo Blanco wrote many popular gaitas. Gaitas are a type of folk music, often played during Christmas. He worked with another famous musician named Simón Díaz on these songs. They created a series of songs called Gaitas de las Locas.
Hugo Blanco also started a music group called Las Cuatro Monedas. Many people think this was the first Venezuelan ska group. Ska is a fun and energetic music style that started in Jamaica.
