Playing for Clubs
Flamengo Years
Hugo Moura was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He joined the youth team of Flamengo when he was 12 years old. In 2016, he had an injury that kept him from playing in an important youth tournament called Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
On January 17, 2018, Hugo played his first game for Flamengo's main team. They won 2-0 against Volta Redonda in the Campeonato Carioca tournament. Just eight days later, he was the captain of the Flamengo under-20 team. They won the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior final against São Paulo.
In November 2018, Hugo Moura was officially moved up to the senior team for the next season. In September 2019, Flamengo extended his contract, meaning he would stay with the club until December 2023. On May 5, 2019, he played his first game in Brazil's top league, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, at Morumbi Stadium against São Paulo. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Loan to Coritiba
On August 31, 2020, Hugo Moura went to play for Coritiba on a temporary loan. He stayed with them until the end of the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season.
Loan to Lugano
In August 2021, Hugo was loaned to Lugano, a club in Switzerland. However, the loan had to end early. This was because of rules in the Swiss Super League that meant he couldn't play for them.
Athletico Paranaense
On January 5, 2022, Hugo Moura moved to Athletico Paranaense. He joined them on a one-year loan deal. This deal included an option for Athletico to buy him permanently. On July 19, Athletico decided to buy him. They paid €1.2 million to keep him as a permanent player.
