History of Hull
The community of Hull has an interesting past. A post office was first opened here in 1888. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open for a long time, finally closing its doors in 1954.
The name "Hull" for this community came from another place: Hull, Iowa. It was common for new settlements to be named after places the original settlers came from. Hull is also known as a Dutch community. This means that many of the first people who settled here came from the Netherlands, or were descendants of Dutch immigrants. They brought their culture and traditions with them to North Dakota.
