Huntington Lake is a small community located in Fresno County, California. It sits high up in the mountains, about 7,027 feet (2,142 meters) above sea level. This area is famous for its beautiful lake, also called Huntington Lake, which is a popular spot for outdoor fun.
The community was first known as Basin. Its post office opened in 1913. The name was changed to Huntington Lake in 1916. Many homes here are "USFS Recreation Residences," which means they are cabins or homes managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
Weather and Seasons
Huntington Lake has a special kind of weather. It experiences warm, dry summers. The average monthly temperature never goes above 71.6 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius).
Summer Weather
During summer, daytime temperatures are usually between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit (24-29 degrees Celsius). Sometimes, it can get a bit hotter, over 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius). Cool breezes from the lake help keep things comfortable. Nights are much cooler, often dropping to 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (4-10 degrees Celsius). Most summer days start clear and cool. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, sometimes bringing hail or even a little snow.
Winter Weather
Winters are cool and chilly. However, the average monthly temperatures usually stay above freezing. Snow is common in winter, with about 12 inches (30 cm) falling each year.
