History of Hurnville
Hurnville was first started in 1890. Just a few years later, many people from Russia with German family backgrounds moved to the area. They soon made up most of the people living in Hurnville.
Early Services and Community Life
The community had its own post office from 1891 to 1905. This helped people send and receive mail. In 1894, the German Baptist church was built by the people who had moved there. This church became an important part of the community.
Population and Businesses Over Time
By 1936, Hurnville had two businesses and about 20 residents. The number of people living there stayed about the same for many years. However, by the mid-1960s, there were no businesses left in Hurnville. The population was still around 15 people in both 1990 and 2000.

Hurnville is found in the north-central part of Clay County. It is located where two roads meet: Farm to Market Road 1197 and Farm to Market Road 2332. This spot is about 8 miles (13 km) north of a town called Henrietta.
