Hussein al-Sheikh is an important Palestinian leader. He was born in 1960. Since April 26, 2025, he has served as the first Vice President of Palestine. He also holds a key position as the secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee since 2022.

About Hussein al-Sheikh
Early Life and Education
Hussein al-Sheikh was born in Ramallah in 1960. Ramallah is a city in what is now Palestine. During his younger years, he learned to speak Hebrew. This skill has been very useful in his career.
Starting His Public Service
Since 2007, Hussein al-Sheikh led the General Authority of Civil Affairs. This group helps manage important daily matters for the Palestinian people. In 2008, he was chosen to be a member of the Central Committee of Fatah. Fatah is a major Palestinian political party.
Leading Roles in the PLO
In June 2022, Mr. al-Sheikh became the secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PLO is a very important organization for the Palestinian people. He also became the head of the Negotiations Affairs Department for the PLO. This department works on discussions and agreements for Palestine.
Becoming Vice President of Palestine
On April 25, 2025, the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, gave Mr. al-Sheikh a new important role. He was appointed as the Vice President of Palestine. He also became the deputy chairman of the PLO's Executive Committee. These roles show his significant leadership in Palestine.
