You can find the water prince dragonfly in many places. It lives in Southeast Asia, Indonesia, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Australia.

Water prince dragonflies are quite large. Their wings can spread up to 100 millimeters wide. The body of the dragonfly is about 55 millimeters long.

What Does It Look Like?

The head and chest area (thorax) of this dragonfly are black and yellow. Its main body part, called the abdomen, is black. It has big yellow spots all over it.

Where Does It Live?

Water prince dragonflies love freshwater places. Their natural habitats include swamps, lakes, and ponds. They need these wet areas to live and grow.

In Australia, you can find them in several regions. They live from the Northern Territory all the way to Queensland. You can also spot them in central New South Wales.

The water prince dragonfly's conservation status has been assessed. It is listed as "Least Concern" (LC) by the IUCN. This means it is not currently considered endangered.
