I Left My Sneakers in Dimension X is the second book in the exciting Rod Allbright's Alien Adventures series. Bruce Coville wrote this science fiction story. It was first published in 1994.

Rod's New Adventure Begins
This book continues the adventures of Rod Allbright. He is with the crew of the Galactic Patrol ship Ferkel. A bad guy named Smorkus Flinders comes from Dimension X. He is a friend of the villain BKR. Smorkus captures Rod and his cousin Elspeth. He takes them to his home. He wants to use them as bait for the Ferkel crew. This is his revenge for them catching BKR.
Escape from Castle Chaos
Captain Grakker and his crew rescue Rod and Elspeth. But during their escape from Castle Chaos, the Ferkel gets badly damaged. Everyone has to leave the ship. Now, our heroes are stuck without their spacecraft.
New Friends and Training
Their friend Snout mysteriously disappears. The remaining seven heroes get help from Galuspa. Galuspa is a Shapeshifter from Dimension X. He takes them to the Valley of the Shapeshifters. They want to see the Ting Wongovia there.
During their journey, Rod gets a new friend. It's a small, furry creature called a Chibling. It becomes very attached to him. Rod also notices Tar Gibbons, another crew member, watching him. Later, Tar asks Rod to be his "Krevlik," which means apprentice. Rod agrees and starts learning martial arts from Tar.
While waiting, Rod learns that BKR was sent to prison. He was taken by the Merkel, a sister ship to the Ferkel. Rod also learns that the Ferkel crew knew they were going into a trap. But they still came to save Rod and Elspeth.
Meeting the Ting Wongovia
Finally, the Ting Wongovia agrees to meet them. They discover he is Snout's egg brother. They also learn that Smorkus Flinders was once a good person. But when he was young, he was caught in a terrible Reality Quake. This event changed him into a monster forever.
Smorkus was sent to the Valley of the Monsters. He became their king. But the Reality Quake also made him a little bit crazy.
Stopping a Dangerous Plan
They then learn about Smorkus Flinders and BKR's plan. They want to create a permanent hole between Dimension X and Dimension Q. Dimension X has dangerous Reality Quakes. Dimension Q is where Earth and the Galactic Patrol are. This hole would let Reality Quakes come to our world. The two dimensions would eventually join together. Reality would then shift like sand.
Smorkus Flinders wants revenge for what happened to him. BKR is just mean and wants to make others suffer. He knows the Reality Quakes will affect him too. To stop them, the Ferkel crew teams up with the Shapeshifters and the Ting Wongovia. Even Elspeth joins them, though the others aren't thrilled.
They return to Castle Chaos. Spar Kellis, a giant blue monster, helps them. He works for the Ting Wongovia by spying on Smorkus Flinders. They prepare for a big fight.
The Final Confrontation
During the battle, Rod has to grow to a giant size. He needs to defeat Smorkus Flinders. While fighting, Snout contacts Rod through a mind link. Rod learns that Snout is being held by the "Ferkada." He also finds out that Smorkus Flinders knows something about Rod's father. When Rod asks Smorkus about it, Smorkus yells for BKR. Rod then passes out.
When Rod wakes up, he learns that Smorkus Flinders is now their prisoner. He also finds out that when the Ferkel crashed into Smorkus's room, they were actually looking for another alien: Rod's own father.
With all these new discoveries, Rod gets ready to go home. He gives his new sneakers to Spar Kellis as a gift. After everything that happened, telling his mom he left his sneakers in Dimension X is the least of his worries!
