I Left My Sneakers in Dimension X is an exciting science fiction book for young readers. It's the second story in the popular "Rod Allbright's Alien Adventures" series. The talented author Bruce Coville wrote this book, which first came out in 1994.

Rod's New Adventure Begins
This book continues the thrilling journey of Rod Allbright. He is with the brave crew of the Galactic Patrol ship Ferkel. Their adventures take a dangerous turn when Smorkus Flinders, a friend of the tricky villain BKR, appears from Dimension X.
Stranded in Dimension X
Smorkus Flinders captures Rod and his cousin Elspeth. He takes them to his home, hoping to lure the Ferkel crew. He wants to get back at them for putting BKR in prison. Captain Grakker and his team quickly rescue Rod and Elspeth. However, during their escape from a place called Castle Chaos, the Ferkel gets badly damaged. Everyone has to leave the ship. Now, without their spacecraft, Rod and his friends are stuck far from home.
New Friends and Training
After their friend Snout mysteriously vanishes, the remaining seven heroes need help. They find it in Galuspa, a friendly Shapeshifter from Dimension X. Galuspa guides them to the Valley of the Shapeshifters. There, they hope to meet the wise Ting Wongovia. On their journey, Rod finds a new furry friend, a small creature called a Chibling. This Chibling quickly forms a special bond with Rod.
During this time, Rod notices Tar Gibbons, another crew member, watching him. Tar later asks Rod to become his "Krevlik," which means an apprentice. Rod agrees and starts learning martial arts from his new teacher. While waiting, Rod also discovers that BKR was transferred to the Merkel, a ship like the Ferkel. BKR was supposed to be taken to prison. Rod learns that his friends knew they were going into a trap but still came to save him.
Unraveling the Mystery
The Ting Wongovia finally agrees to meet Rod and his friends. They learn an amazing secret: the Ting Wongovia is Snout's egg brother! They also discover that Smorkus Flinders was once a kind person. When he was a bit older than Rod, a powerful "Reality Quake" changed him. This event made him into the creature he is now. He was sent to the Valley of the Monsters and became their leader. The Reality Quake also affected his mind.
Stopping a Dangerous Plan
Rod and the crew then uncover Smorkus Flinders and BKR's terrible plan. They want to create a permanent opening between Dimension X and Dimension Q. Dimension X has dangerous Reality Quakes. Dimension Q is where Earth and the Galactic Patrol are. If they succeed, these quakes would spread to our world. The two dimensions would slowly merge into one. In this new dimension, reality would constantly change. Smorkus Flinders wants this to get back at life for what happened to him. BKR just wants to cause trouble and make others unhappy.
To stop this dangerous plan, the Ferkel crew teams up. They are joined by the Shapeshifters, the Ting Wongovia, and even Elspeth (who isn't always helpful!). With help from Spar Kellis, a huge blue creature who spies on Smorkus Flinders, they return to Castle Chaos. It's time for them to make their final stand.
A Giant Battle and New Clues
During the big fight, Rod has to grow to an enormous size. This helps him face Smorkus Flinders. In the middle of the battle, Rod hears Snout's voice directly in his mind. He learns that Snout is being held captive by a group called the "Ferkada." Rod also discovers that Smorkus Flinders knows something important about Rod's father. When Rod asks Smorkus Flinders about it, the creature shouts to ask BKR instead.
Rod then passes out. When he wakes up, he learns that Smorkus Flinders is now their prisoner. He also finds out something even more surprising. When the Ferkel crashed into Smorkus Flinders' room, the crew wasn't just looking for Smorkus. They were actually searching for another alien: Rod's own father!
With all these new secrets and questions, Rod gets ready to head home. Before leaving, he gives his brand-new sneakers to Spar Kellis as a gift. After everything he's been through, explaining to his mom that he left his sneakers in Dimension X is the least of his concerns!
