Ian Vougioukas (pronounced Ee-an Voo-yoo-kas) is a Greek former professional basketball player. He was born on May 31, 1985. Ian is very tall, standing at 2.11 meters (6 feet 11 inches). He played in the center position, which is usually for the tallest players on a basketball team. He also played college basketball in the United States.

Ian's Early Life and Basketball Start
Ian Vougioukas was born in London, England. He started playing basketball in his home country, Greece. He played for youth teams like Aris Glyfadas, Kronos, and Ilysiakos. Later, he moved to the United States to play basketball in college. He stayed there until the 2006–07 basketball season ended.
College Basketball Career
Ian played NCAA Division I college basketball for the Saint Louis Billikens. He was a standout player there. In 2006, he was named First-Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference. This means he was one of the best players in his college league.
He scored about 13.9 points per game and grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game. One of his best games was on March 3, 2007. He scored 28 points and got 11 rebounds in a close game against Dayton.
Ian's Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Ian Vougioukas started his professional career in Greece.
Playing for Olympiacos and Panathinaikos
In 2007, Ian signed a three-year contract with Olympiacos Piraeus, a big Greek team. He was first loaned to Rethymno for the 2007–08 season. He then returned to Olympiacos in 2008.
He was loaned again in 2009 to another Greek team, Panellinios. In 2010, he joined Panathinaikos, another famous Greek club. With Panathinaikos, Ian won some major titles. He helped them win the EuroLeague championship and the Greek League championship in 2011. He also won the Greek Cup with Panathinaikos in 2012.
Playing in Russia, Turkey, and Germany
In July 2012, Ian moved to Russia. He signed a two-year deal with UNICS Kazan, a team in the VTB United League.
In September 2014, Ian signed a one-year deal with Galatasaray, a Turkish team. He left Galatasaray in December 2014. In February 2015, he joined ratiopharm Ulm in Germany for the rest of that season.
Playing in Lithuania and Returning to Greece
On September 8, 2015, Ian signed with Žalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania for one year. Then, in August 2016, he signed with Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia.
On July 4, 2017, Ian returned to Panathinaikos, his former team in Greece. He was even named the team's captain for a short time. He renewed his contract with Panathinaikos in August 2019. He left the team in July 2020 but was back playing with them in September of the same year. He finished his career playing for Panionios from 2023 to 2024.

Ian Vougioukas also played for the Greek national basketball teams.
Junior National Teams
He was part of Greece's junior national teams. He played in the 2001 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, the 2004 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, and the 2005 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He won a bronze medal at the 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Cup. He also won a silver medal at the 2005 FIBA Under-21 World Cup. In 2009, he won another silver medal at the Mediterranean Games with Greece's under-26 team.
Senior National Team
Ian also played for the main Greek national basketball team. He represented his country at the 2010 FIBA World Cup and the 2014 World Cup.

Ian Vougioukas has a younger brother named Alex, who is also a professional basketball player. His cousin, Vaso Vougiouka, is a famous fencer who has competed in the Olympics.
