Ibón de Plan or Basa de la Mora is a beautiful mountain lake located in the Province of Huesca, in northeastern Spain. This special lake gets its water from melting snow and ice high up in the mountains, rather than from a river. It sits at a very high elevation of about 1,910 meters (6,266 feet) above sea level. The area around it is often described as a stunning natural bowl, surrounded by tall pine trees.

The Legend of Basa de la Mora

The name "Basa de la Mora" means "Moorish Princess's Lake" in the local Aragonese language. This name comes from an old local folktale.

According to the legend, a Moorish princess was trying to escape from Christian soldiers. She ran towards this lake and, sadly, drowned in its waters.

The story also says that on Saint John's Eve, which is a special night, the princess can be seen dancing on the surface of the lake. But only people with a pure heart who wash their face with the lake's water can see her.
