Idana is a small community in Clay County, Kansas, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP) because the government counts its population separately. In 2020, 54 people lived there. Idana is about 6.5 miles west of Clay Center. It is also 1.5 miles south of US Route 24.
A Look Back: Idana's History
Idana got its name from two early settlers. They were Ida Howland and Anna Broughton.
A post office first opened in a nearby town called Chapmanville in 1879. It later moved to Idana in 1882. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1980. Idana was also located along the Union Pacific Railroad line.
