Igor Bychkov was born on March 7, 1987, in Donetsk, which was then part of the Ukrainian SSR. He later moved to Spain and became a Spanish citizen, competing for his new country. He is 1.89 meters tall and weighed about 80 kg in 2012. He trains with the Playas de Castellon club.

Amazing Achievements

Igor has achieved many great things in his pole vaulting career. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he finished 12th in the final. This is a big accomplishment, as the Olympics are the biggest sports event in the world!

He also made history as the first Spanish pole vaulter to reach a World Championships Final. This happened at the World Championships in Daegu in 2011. Later, in 2013, he became the first Spanish athlete to win an IAAF Challenge event in pole vaulting, which he did in Beijing.

Igor has won several national championships in Spain. He won three outdoor national titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013. He also won two indoor national titles in 2008 and 2011. He has proudly represented Spain in nine major international competitions.

Igor Bychkov has set impressive personal bests in pole vaulting. His highest jump outdoors was 5.65 meters, which he achieved in Alcobendas in 2013. Indoors, his best jump was 5.60 meters, set in Madrid in 2014. These jumps show his incredible skill and dedication to the sport.
