Football runs in Igor's family! His father, Óscar Engonga, was also a football player and even coached the Equatorial Guinea national team. Igor's uncle, Vicente Engonga, was a famous footballer too. He played for the Spanish national team.
Igor's Journey in Club Football
Igor started his football journey in the youth teams. He trained at Gimnástica de Torrelavega when he was younger.
Starting His Senior Career
Igor began playing for the senior team at Gimnástica de Torrelavega during the 2012–13 season. This team was in Spain's third division.
In December 2013, Igor joined Celta de Vigo, another well-known Spanish club. He was part of their youth squad. The next year, in August 2014, he went on loan to CD Tropezón, which was also in the third division.
Moving to New Teams
In July 2015, Igor moved to Club Portugalete, another team in Spain's third division. The following year, in July 2016, he signed with UD Almería B, a team in the fourth division.
In August 2019, Igor decided to play football in Greece. He joined a club called Doxa Drama FC, which plays in the Greek Super League Two. After that, he played for Futuro Kings FC and then returned to Spain to play for CD Naval.

Igor Engonga has family roots in Equatorial Guinea. His grandfather, Vicente Engonga Nguema, was born there. This connection allowed Igor to play for the Equatorial Guinea national football team.
His First International Match
Igor played his first international game for Equatorial Guinea on January 7, 2015. It was a friendly match against Cape Verde, and the game ended in a 1–1 draw. A friendly match is played for practice, not for points in a competition.
Soon after, he was chosen to be part of the team for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. This is a big tournament for African countries. Although his country finished fourth, Igor did not play in the tournament.
His First International Goal
Igor scored his first goal for Equatorial Guinea on June 6, 2015. It was the only goal in a friendly match against Andorra. His goal helped his team win the game 1–0.
