Ijamsville is a small, quiet place located in Wabash County, Indiana. It is an unincorporated community. This means it's not an official city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Pleasant Township.
History
Ijamsville was first planned out in 1872. This process is called platting. When a community is platted, it means someone drew a map showing how the land would be divided. This map includes where streets, lots for homes, and public spaces would go.
For a time, Ijamsville was also known by a different name. People sometimes called it South Laketon.
A post office was opened in Ijamsville in 1874. This was a very important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1923.
