Ikaalinen is a city and municipality in Finland. It is located in the Pirkanmaa region. Ikaalinen is about 55 kilometers (34 miles) northwest of Tampere, a larger city.
The city has a population of around 6,850 people. It covers an area of about 843.40 square kilometres (325.64 sq mi). A big part of this area, 93.16 km2 (35.97 sq mi), is water. The city is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.
The municipalities next to Ikaalinen are Hämeenkyrö, Jämijärvi, Kankaanpää, Parkano, Sastamala, and Ylöjärvi. The main language spoken in Ikaalinen is Finnish.

History of Ikaalinen
Ikaalinen became an independent municipality in 1641. A municipality is like a local government area. Later, in 1858, a market town was started there. A market town is a place where people can buy and sell goods.
In 1972, the market town and the municipality joined together. Then, in 1977, Ikaalinen officially became a city. The center of Ikaalinen is located near Kyrösjärvi lake. It is also close to highway 3, which is part of E12.
Nature and Parks
Part of the Seitseminen National Park is located in Ikaalinen. National parks are special areas of nature that are protected. They are great places for hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
