Ilya Kuvshinov (born 20 February 1990) is a talented Russian artist who draws pictures, often for animated shows and movies. He lives in Tokyo, Japan. He is well-known for creating the character designs for the animated series Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045 and the movie The Wonderland (2019).
Early life
Ilya Kuvshinov was born in Penza, a city in what was then the Soviet Union (now Russia). When he was younger, he worked in the video game industry. At the same time, he also worked on designing characters in his free time. Around 2015, Ilya moved to Japan. There, he started working full-time on anime, which are Japanese animated shows and movies.
Career and art
Ilya Kuvshinov is very popular on Instagram, a social media platform where people share pictures. By 2022, he had 2 million followers who enjoyed seeing his art.
In May 2019, a company called Dai Nippon Printing held a special art show for his illustrations. This show was unique because it took place in VRChat, which is a virtual reality world. Later that year, a book filled with his illustrations was published.
In July 2020, a Japanese fashion magazine called An An featured his artwork. They showed his drawing of Motoko Kusanagi, a famous character from Ghost in the Shell. Ilya also designed the characters for an indie game called Guns Undarkness, which came out in 2024.
