Inaya Day (born Inaya Davis on January 17, 1977) is an American singer and songwriter. She is famous for singing on popular house music songs. These include "... '98" by Mousse T and her version of the song "... Girl."

Early Life and Career
Inaya Day grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she first started singing in her church choir. She attended the famous High School of Music and the Performing Arts. Later, she studied musical theater at the University of Bridgeport.
Her talent took her to the Broadway stage. She was the understudy (a backup performer) for Stephanie Mills in the role of Dorothy in the musical The Wiz. Day even played the lead role in shows in Washington, D.C., and St. Louis, Missouri.
Day also worked as a session musician. This means she was hired to sing backing vocals or write songs for other artists' albums. She worked with huge stars like Michael Jackson, Al Green, Queen Latifah, and Missy Elliott. She even co-wrote the hook for Missy Elliott's hit song "Gossip Folks."
Queen of House Music
In 1996, Day discovered house music, a type of electronic dance music. She began working with German producers Boris Dlugosch and Mousse T. Their song "Keep Pushin" became a big hit, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard dance music chart in the U.S.
She sang the chorus for Mousse T's track "... '98," which became a worldwide smash hit. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard dance chart. She followed this with another successful song, "Hold Your Head Up High."
Famous Collaborations
Throughout her career, Day has worked with many DJs and producers. In 1997, she released the song "Movin' Up" with her friend, actress Tichina Arnold. She also teamed up with DJ Mike Cruz for the song "Can't Stop Dancing," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard club chart.
In 2004, she worked with Australian producer mrTimothy on the song "I Am Tha 1." It topped the dance charts in Australia. They worked together again on the songs "Stand By Me" and "The Glamorous Life."

One of Day's biggest solo hits was her cover version of "... Girl," originally by the group Vanity 6. Her version was released in 2005 and became a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom.
