Inessa Mykolayivna Kravets (born October 5, 1966) is a famous Ukrainian athlete. She was a top competitor in both the triple jump and long jump. Inessa was especially known for her amazing skills in the triple jump. She held the world record in this event for a very long time, until 2021!

Amazing Achievements in Athletics

Inessa Kravets was born in Dnipropetrovsk. She became well-known in the triple jump in 1991. That year, she broke the world record by jumping an incredible 14.95 meters.

Early Successes

Her first big wins came in 1992. She won a gold medal at the first-ever women's triple jump event. This was at the 1992 European Athletics Indoor Championships. Later that year, she won a silver medal in the long jump at the 1992 Summer Olympics. She was part of the Unified Team then.

World Records and Olympic Gold

In 1993, Inessa won another gold medal. This was at the first women's triple jump event at the 1993 IAAF World Indoor Championships. In 1994, she won the long jump at the 1994 IAAF World Cup. She also earned two medals at the 1994 European Athletics Championships. She got a silver in long jump and a bronze in triple jump.

In 1995, she set a new world record at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics in Gothenburg. She jumped an amazing 15.50 meters! The next year, she won the Olympic gold medal. This happened at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She became the very first women's champion in the triple jump.

Rules and Fair Play

During her career, Inessa Kravets faced some challenges. She was found to have broken international rules about fair play in sports. In 1993, she received a three-month ban from competing. Later, in July 2000, she was suspended for two years. This was after a test showed she had used a substance not allowed in sports.
