Inez Jasper (born Inez Point on May 19, 1981), also known simply as Inez, is a talented Canadian singer and songwriter. Her music is a cool mix of pop, dance, hip hop, and traditional First Nations music.
Inez is well-known for being nominated twice for the Juno Award for Aboriginal Album of the Year. This is a big award in Canadian music! She was nominated in 2010 for her album Singsoulgirl and again in 2014 for her album Burn Me Down.

About Inez Jasper
Inez Jasper grew up in Chilliwack, British Columbia. She has a rich background, being part of the Sto:lo, Ojibway, and Métis peoples. Her dad, Mark Point, used to be a chief for the Skowkale First Nation. Her uncle, Steven Point, was even a former Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, which is a special role in the government.
Besides being a musician, Inez is also a registered nurse! She works as a community health nurse for Stó:lō Nation Health Services. She has two children. In 2010, her husband, Otis Jasper, was the chief of the Soowahlie First Nation.
Inez's Music Journey
Inez released her first song, "Sto:lo Strong," in 2005. Then, in January 2009, she released her first full album called SingSoulGirl. She traveled a lot to share her music from this album. She won several awards, including some from the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards and the Western Canadian Music Awards.
At the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, her song "Breathe" won Single of the Year. Her album SingSoulGirl won Pop Album of the Year, and Inez herself won Best New Artist.
After her first album, she released two more songs that weren't on an album: "Make U Mine" in 2011 and "Dancin' on the Run" in 2013. Then, in August 2013, she released her second album, Burn Me Down. This album also won Pop Album of the Year at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards. It was also nominated for a Juno Award again! In 2014, Inez was also named Best Producer/Engineer at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards.
In 2008, Inez was recognized as a National Aboriginal Role Model by the National Aboriginal Health Organization. This means she's seen as a great example for others to look up to.
