Infanta María Teresa of Spain was a Spanish princess. She was born in Madrid, Spain, on November 12, 1882. Her full name was María Teresa Isabel Eugenia del Patrocinio Diega de Borbón y Habsburgo. She was the second daughter of Alfonso XII of Spain, who was the King of Spain, and his second wife, Maria Christina of Austria. As a princess, María Teresa was a member of the important House of Bourbon, a royal family that ruled in many European countries.
Marriage and Children
Infanta María Teresa married her first cousin, Prince Ferdinand of Bavaria, on January 12, 1906. Their wedding took place in Madrid. Prince Ferdinand was the eldest son of Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria and Infanta María de la Paz of Spain.
María Teresa and Ferdinand had four children together:
- Infante Luis Alfonso of Spain (born December 6, 1906 – died May 14, 1983)
- Infante José Eugenio of Spain (born March 26, 1909 – died August 16, 1966)
- Infanta María de las Mercedes of Spain (born October 3, 1911 – died September 11, 1953)
- Infanta María del Pilar of Spain (born September 15, 1912 – died May 9, 1918)
María Teresa passed away in Madrid on September 23, 1912, when she was 29 years old.
