Jason S Hunter (born July 6, 1970), known as Inspectah Deck, is an American rapper and music producer. He is a member of two music groups: Wu-Tang Clan and Czarface. People often praise his clever lyrics and his parts in many of his groups' famous songs. He has also become a producer, creating music for other rappers and his own projects.

Early Life

Hunter was born on July 6, 1970. He grew up in Staten Island, New York City. He went to school with future famous rappers like Method Man, Raekwon, and Ghostface Killah. Hunter's father passed away when he was six years old.

Music Career

Inspectah Deck became well-known as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. This hip hop group formed in the early 1990s. He is known for his unique way of writing and performing rap verses.

Early Success

After the first Wu-Tang Clan album, Inspectah Deck appeared on many solo albums by other group members. These included Tical by Method Man in 1994. He also featured on Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… in 1995.

He contributed to GZA's Liquid Swords in 1995. And he was on Ghostface Killah's Ironman in 1996.

Producing and Writing

On the Wu-Tang Clan's second group album, Wu-Tang Forever (1997), Inspectah Deck showed his skills as a producer. He produced the song "Visionz." He also had his own solo song on the album called "The City."

He wrote one of the most famous rap verses in hip hop history. This was for the group's hit song "Triumph." He also produced songs for other Wu-Tang members. These included "Elements" for Method Man and "Kiss of a Black Widow" for RZA.

Solo Albums

Inspectah Deck planned to release his first solo album, Uncontrolled Substance, in 1995. However, it faced many delays. A flood in producer RZA's studio destroyed many of the beats made for the album.

Finally, in September 1999, Uncontrolled Substance was released. It included more of Inspectah Deck's own production work. The album received good reviews from music critics. After this, he rejoined the Wu-Tang Clan for their albums The W (2000) and Iron Flag (2001).

In 2003, Inspectah Deck released his second album, The Movement. He later said this album did not meet his expectations. In 2006, he released The Resident Patient. This album was meant to be a story that came before The Movement.

In 2007, he worked with the Wu-Tang Clan again for their album 8 Diagrams.

New Projects

Around this time, Inspectah Deck announced new music projects. One was an album called Czarface. This was a new group he formed with Boston artists 7L & Esoteric. They also worked with the famous DJ Premier.

He also announced his own solo album, The Rebellion. This album was planned to feature production from RZA. He later changed the name of this album to Uncontrolled Substance II. This will be a sequel to his very first album.

On March 23, 2010, Inspectah Deck released his fourth solo album, Manifesto. It featured other rappers like Raekwon and Cormega. He also mentioned plans to release an album of his own instrumental music. This album would be called The Bodyrock Volume 1.

After working on the Wu-Tang Clan's album A Better Tomorrow, he made more Czarface albums. These included Every Hero Needs a Villain in 2015. In 2016, they released A Fistful of Peril. This album came about after Marvel Entertainment asked them to create a song for their Black Panther web-series.
