The International Cheese Awards is a super exciting event all about cheese! It's a big show and competition held every year in England, near a town called Nantwich. This amazing event has been happening since 1897, and it brings in cheeses from all over the world.

The show lasts for two days. The first day is for judging the cheeses and for people in the cheese business. The second day is open to everyone! It happens at the same time as the Nantwich and South Cheshire Agricultural Show. About 40,000 visitors come to try different cheeses and find out who won the awards.

The International Cheese Awards is run by the Nantwich Agricultural Society. This group is a registered charity in the UK.

A Brief History of the Awards

The first cheese show started way back in 1897. It was part of a bigger agricultural show in Cheshire. Over time, the Nantwich show became its own event.

The Nantwich Dairy Shows kept going almost every year. Even in 1908, a show was held in the Market Hall. The two World Wars made it hard to hold events like this, so there isn't much detail from those times.

In 1946, the show found a permanent home at Dorfold Park. It has been held there every year since, except for a few times when there were outbreaks of Foot & Mouth disease.

In 1997, the Nantwich Cheese Show celebrated its 100th birthday! The Royal Household Cavalry even came to visit for this special centenary event.

In 2009, the show got a new name: the International Cheese Awards. This name shows how big and important the event had become, attracting cheeses from all over the world.

Who Organizes the Awards?

The International Cheese Awards are put together by a group of volunteers. These people are experts in many areas. They come from the dairy and cheese industries. They also have skills in planning big events, getting sponsors, and doing marketing. Their hard work makes the awards a success every year!
