Why was ITSO Formed?
ITSO was formed to make sure that satellite communication is available to everyone. It wants these services to be high-quality and reliable. It also ensures that no one is treated unfairly when using these services. This is called providing "public telecommunications services."
Who are the Members of ITSO?
Many countries are part of ITSO. As of June 2013, there were 149 countries that were members. Countries join ITSO by agreeing to a special international document. This document is called the Agreement relating to the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization. It's like signing a big agreement with other countries.
For example, Bulgaria joined ITSO in 1996. However, they later decided to leave the organization in 2012.
