Ion Besoiu (born March 11, 1931 – died January 18, 2017) was a famous Romanian actor. He was known for his many roles in films and on stage.

About Ion Besoiu
Ion Besoiu was born in Sibiu, Romania, in 1931. He studied acting at the Theater and Music Academy in Sibiu. He started his acting career in 1957. For 16 years, he performed at the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu.
Later, he moved to Bucharest and joined the Bulandra Theatre. He even became the director of this famous theatre for 12 years.
His Film Career
Besoiu acted in many important Romanian films. These movies were made during a time in Romania's history when it was a Communist country. Some of his well-known films include "Furtuna", "Neamul Șoimăreștilor", "Haiducii", "Răscoala", and "Mihai Viteazul".
He also appeared in "Ciprian Porumbescu", "Păcală", and "Toate pânzele sus!".
Voice Acting
Ion Besoiu was also chosen by Disney. He provided the Romanian voice for a character in the animated series "Darwing Duck".
His Later Life
Ion Besoiu passed away in a hospital in Bucharest in 2017. He is buried at the Bellu Cemetery in the city.

- In 2002, he received the "Excellency Prize of Romanian Cinematography" for his great work in films.
- In 2011, he was honored with the Gopo Prize for Lifetime Achievement. This award recognized his long and successful career.
