Early Life and Football Beginnings
Ion Voinescu was born on April 18, 1929. He started playing football at a young age. From 1939 to 1948, he played for several youth teams. These included Olympia București, ASPIM Bucureşti, Carmen Bucureşti, Solvay Uioara, and RATA Târgu Mureş. These early experiences helped him develop his goalkeeping talents.
Professional Career and Steaua București
Voinescu began his professional career in 1948 with Metalul Bucureşti. He played 23 games for them. In 1950, he joined Steaua București, which was then known as CCA. He stayed with Steaua for a long time, until 1963. During his time there, he played 162 matches. His long career at Steaua made him a true club legend.
Playing for the Romanian National Team
Ion Voinescu also proudly represented his country. He played 22 matches for the Romanian national team. These appearances are called "caps" in football. His biggest achievement with the national team was playing in the 1952 Summer Olympics. This was a great honor for him and for Romania.
Life After Playing Football
