The Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD) is a public school system in Iowa City, Iowa. It helps educate over 14,000 students. These students range from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade.
The district has 21 elementary schools, three junior high schools, and three main high schools. There is also one special alternative school for older students. The ICCSD covers about 130 square miles (337 square kilometers). It serves several towns like Iowa City, Coralville, Hills, North Liberty, and University Heights. The district also includes the nearby rural areas.
The Iowa City Community School District employs more than 2,200 people. This makes it the fifth largest school district in the state of Iowa. It is also the second biggest employer in the Iowa City area.

Historic Schools in ICCSD
Some schools in the district have a long history. One example is the former Henry Sabin Elementary School. It was located in Iowa City. This building was first known as the First Ward School. It was later named after Henry Sabin, an important educator in Iowa.
The school stopped being an elementary school around 1979. For a while, it housed an alternative high school. A famous artist named Ana Mendieta taught art there in the mid-1970s. The old building was taken down in 2015.
