Ipley, Missouri facts for kids

Ipley is a small place in Dunklin County, Missouri. It's not a city or town with its own government, so it's called an unincorporated community. You can find Ipley about four miles northeast of a bigger town called Kennett. Another small community, White Oak, is just 2.5 miles north of Ipley. Both are located along Missouri Route 25.

The Story of Ipley

Have you ever wondered how places get their names? Ipley has an interesting story! For a while, it was also known as Shipley. This name came from a very early settler in the area, a person named Hugh Shipley.

Back in 1903, a post office opened there. It was called the Shipley post office. People could send and receive mail there. But after about ten years, in 1913, the post office closed down.
