Ippolita Ludovisi facts for kids
Olimpia Ippolita I Ludovisi (born December 24, 1663 – died December 29, 1733) was an important noblewoman who became the Princess of Piombino. She ruled this small state in Italy from 1701 until she passed away in 1733.
Early Life and Family
Ippolita Ludovisi was born in Cagliari, a city on the island of Sardinia. She was the youngest daughter of Niccolò I Ludovisi, who was the Prince of Piombino. Her mother was Constanza Pamphilj, a princess from another important family.
On October 19, 1681, when she was about 17 years old, Ippolita married Gregorio II Boncompagni. He was the Duke of Sora and Arce. This marriage connected two powerful noble families in Italy.
Becoming a Princess
Ippolita's older sister, Olimpia, was also a princess. When her sister passed away on November 27, 1700, Ippolita inherited the family's lands and titles. This included the important Piombino principality. This meant she became the new Princess of Piombino in 1701.
Princess Ippolita ruled Piombino for many years, until her death in 1733. After she died, her five daughters were still alive. The title of Princess of Piombino then went to her oldest daughter, Maria Eleonora I Boncompagni. This continued the family's rule through the Boncompagni family line.

Ippolita and Gregorio had several children:
