Maria Eleonora I Boncompagni facts for kids
Maria Eleonora I Boncompagni (born 1686, died 1745) was an important ruler in Italy. She was the Princess of Piombino from 1733 until her death. This meant she was in charge of a small state called the Principality of Piombino. She also held many other titles, like Marchioness of Populonia and Princess of Venosa.
Her rule included several islands in the Tuscan Archipelago. These islands were Elba, Montecristo, Pianosa, Gorgona, Capraia, and Isola del Giglio.
Maria Eleonora was the oldest of six daughters. Her mother was Ippolita Ludovisi. When her mother passed away in 1733, Maria Eleonora became the new ruler. She was married to her uncle, Don Antonio I Boncompagni. He became Prince of Piombino because of her right to the title.
