Ipso was a small, hard sweet that was popular in the UK and the United States during the 1970s and 1980s. It was made by a company called Nicholas International Ltd. Ipso sweets were a lot like Tic Tacs. They came in four yummy flavours: strawberry, lemon, orange, and mint.

One of the coolest things about Ipso was its packaging! The boxes were designed to look like interlocking toy building bricks, just like Lego. This meant you could stack the boxes up or connect them together, which was a fun bonus. Each flavour had its own box colour: red for strawberry, green for lemon, orange for orange, and blue for mint.

Ipso's Fun Advertising Campaign

Ipso sweets had a memorable advertising campaign called "Ipso Calypso". The TV ad showed a man eating the sweets. He would then start to daydream about lively West Indian and Jamaican dancers. These dancers would appear on a train platform around him.

But his daydream would always be interrupted! A woman would pop up to tell him he was about to miss his train. The catchy slogan for Ipso sweets was: "A little refreshment will take you a long way." This suggested the sweets could give you a quick boost.
