Iraj Weeraratne, known as IRAJ, is a famous Sri Lankan rapper, music producer, and DJ. He was born on February 21, 1981. Iraj is known for bringing Sinhala and Tamil rap music to Sri Lanka in 2004. He even had his own TV show called Iraj Show on TV Derana.

Career Highlights
Early Life and Music
Iraj showed his musical talent from a young age. When he was 16, he won an award for being the best keyboard player from the Guildhall Music School. Later, he formed a band called Zealots with his school friends, Ranidu Lankage and Yauwana Wigneswaran. This was while they were all studying at the Royal College, Colombo.
Music Production and Achievements
Iraj is also a successful music producer. He owns a company called Bongohd in Bangladesh. In 2009, he worked on his first South Indian song with Vijay Antony. This song was for the Tamil film Vettaikaaran, which starred Kollywood actor Vijay. The song became very popular and was ranked number one in the Chennai Charts.
Public Service Role
In August 2020, Iraj was chosen to be a board member for the National Youth Service Council. He was appointed by Namal Rajapaksa and was expected to serve for three years. However, about a year later, he stepped down from this role. He said it was because he had too many other work commitments.

Iraj has been active on social media during election times in Sri Lanka. He has shown his support for the Rajapaksa family. People have talked about his involvement in promoting the political party he supports. He is a well-known person in the media, and his public actions have led to discussions.
In 2023, Iraj faced some criticism because of his connections with Namal Rajapaksa and Yoshitha Rajapaksa. He publicly supported the Gotabaya Rajapaksa government during the 2022 Sri Lankan protests at Galle Face. His social media posts, which spoke against the protestors, also received comments.
