What is the Irasburg Town Hall?
The Irasburg Town Hall is the main building for the local government in Irasburg. It's where town leaders meet to discuss important issues and make rules for everyone. Before this building, Irasburg was the main town for Orleans County government until 1884.
This building is more than just an office. It's a central spot for people in Irasburg to gather. Many community events, plays, and social get-togethers happen here.
Where is the Town Hall located?
The Irasburg Town Hall is easy to find in the middle of Irasburg village. It sits on the east side of Irasburg Square. You'll see it between the public library and the general store.
What does the Town Hall look like?
The building is made of wood and has two and a half stories. It has a special roof called a hip roof with dormer windows. The outside is covered with clapboard siding.
The front of the building has a porch with round columns. These columns hold up a hip roof over the porch. When you go inside, you enter a foyer, which is like a small lobby. Stairs on the sides lead up to the second floor. On the ground floor, there's a dining hall and a kitchen.
Inside the Auditorium
Upstairs, you'll find a large auditorium with a stage at one end. The ceiling is vaulted, which means it's shaped like an arch. This makes the room feel very open and grand.
One of the coolest things about the auditorium is its five painted backdrops. These are large scenes painted by local artists. They show different views of northern Vermont, adding a special touch to any performance or event.
History of the Irasburg Town Hall
The Irasburg Town Hall was built in 1911. Its style is similar to a large American Foursquare house, which was a popular design at the time.
This building stands on the same spot where the old county courthouse used to be. Sadly, that courthouse was destroyed by a fire in 1910. The new Town Hall was built to replace it and serve the community.

For many years, the Town Hall has been a busy place for the community. It has hosted many different events, including:
