Irma Yakovlevna Raush (born April 21, 1938) is a talented Russian actress and film director. She was also the first wife of the famous film director Andrei Tarkovsky. Irma Raush is well-known for her roles in movies like Ivan's Childhood and Andrei Rublev.

About Irma Raush
Irma Raush was born in Saratov, a city in Russia, on April 21, 1938. She came from a family of Volga German heritage. In 1954, she began studying at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). This is a famous film school in Russia.
Early Career and Family Life
Irma was one of only two women in her class at VGIK. She was studying to become a film director. Andrei Tarkovsky was also in the same class. They became close and married in April 1957. Their son, Arseny Tarkovsky, was born on September 30, 1962. Irma and Andrei later divorced in June 1970.
Acting and Directing Work
Irma Raush acted in some of Andrei Tarkovsky's early films. She played Ivan's mother in the 1962 movie Ivan's Childhood. She also played the character Durochka in Andrei Rublev. For her role in Andrei Rublev, she won an award called the Étoile de Cristal in 1970. This was a French film award, similar to today's César Award.
In 1970, Irma Raush started working as a film director herself. She directed movies for the Gorky Film Studio. After her career in film, she began writing books for children.
