Irma Yakovlevna Raush (born April 21, 1938) is a talented Russian actress and film director. She was also the first wife of the famous film director Andrei Tarkovsky. You might know her best for her roles as Durochka in the movie Andrei Rublev and as Ivan's mother in Ivan's Childhood.

Early Life and Studies
Irma Raush was born in Saratov, a city in Russia, on April 21, 1938. In 1954, she began studying at the State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). This is a well-known film school in Moscow. She was one of only two women in her class who wanted to become film directors.
Marriage and Family
Andrei Tarkovsky, who would become a very famous film director, was in the same class as Irma. They became close and got married in April 1957. Their son, Arseny Tarkovsky, was born on September 30, 1962. Irma and Andrei later divorced in June 1970.
Acting Career
Irma Raush acted in some of Andrei Tarkovsky's early movies. She played the role of Ivan's mother in Ivan's Childhood in 1962. She also played Durochka in the film Andrei Rublev. For her role in Andrei Rublev, she won an award called the Étoile de Cristal in 1970. This award was given for the best foreign actress in France. It was a very important film award before the César Award was created.
Directing and Writing
In 1970, Irma Raush started a new career as a film director. She worked for the Gorky Film Studio, which was a major film studio in the Soviet Union. After her career in film, she began writing children's books.
