Isa Paddy Aqiattusuk (1898–1954) was a talented Inuit artist. He was also known as Akeeaktashuk. He created amazing sculptures, often showing hunters and animals.

Isa Paddy Aqiattusuk was born in 1898. His birthplace was near Inukjuak, a community in Quebec.

Becoming an Artist

Isa Paddy Aqiattusuk was a very skilled stone carver. People quickly noticed his great talent. He was known for observing and showing humans, animals, and birds in his art.

In 1953, his artwork was shown in a special exhibition. This show took place at the Gimpel Fils gallery in London, England.

His sculptures are now part of important art collections. These include the National Gallery of Canada and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. His art is also in the Avataq Cultural Institute collection of Inuit art. Many of his sculptures show hunters.

His Life and Personality

Isa Paddy Aqiattusuk was a friendly and outgoing person. He was married and had children. Even though he was not very successful as a hunter or trapper, his artistic talent shone brightly.

He passed away in 1954. This happened near Craig Harbour in the Northwest Territories. It is thought that he died in a hunting accident.
